Key Stage 4 at CF School: Preparing for Cambridge IGCSE Success

Key Stage 4 (Years 10–11) is a crucial stage where students consolidate their knowledge and develop the skills needed for academic success and lifelong learning. At CF School, we follow the Cambridge International curriculum, providing a rigorous and internationally recognised pathway that prepares students for IGCSE examinations and future studies.

Our Approach to Learning

At CF School, we aim to create a supportive yet challenging learning environment where students can excel. Our Key Stage 4 curriculum allows students to build on the foundations laid in Key Stage 3, focusing on both breadth and depth of understanding.

Students study a range of core subjects alongside carefully selected options, giving them the opportunity to tailor their learning to their interests and future ambitions. Subjects include:

English Literature, English Language, Maths, Sciences, Spanish, Latin, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Spanish, Latin, Computing, PE, Travel and Tourism, Business Studies and Marine Science.

Curriculum Intent

Our Key Stage 4 curriculum is designed to:

  • Ensure students achieve mastery in key concepts and skills
  • Encourage critical thinking, independent learning, and problem-solving
  • Provide a strong foundation for post-16 study, including Cambridge AS & A Levels

Following Cambridge International guidelines, our curriculum is globally recognised and emphasises academic rigour, creative thinking, and practical application. This prepares students not only for examinations but also for the challenges of an interconnected world.

How We Teach

Each subject is taught by an experienced specialist who use a variety of teaching strategies to make learning engaging, meaningful, and relevant. Our curriculum maps ensure coherence and progression across all subjects, helping students connect concepts and develop a deeper understanding of their studies.

We emphasise mastery over coverage, ensuring students spend time understanding core concepts, practising skills, and applying knowledge in a range of contexts—preparing them thoroughly for their Cambridge IGCSE assessments.

Measuring Success

Student progress is monitored continuously through formative and summative assessment, classroom feedback, and regular reporting. At CF School, we focus on actionable feedback and personal growth, helping each student reach their full potential.

Our Key Stage 4 curriculum is designed not just to achieve excellent examination results, but to develop resilient, confident, and motivated learners ready for the next stage of their education.
