Key Stage 4

At the beginning of Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11) children begin a two year course of study leading to external examinations at the end of Year 11.

The Cambridge IGCSEs (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) are considered the world’s most popular qualification for 14-16 year olds and are recognised by academic institutions and employers all over the world. It is taken in over 140 countries and in more than 4500 schools across the world.

Cambridge IGCSE helps students to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in subject content and intellectual enquiry. Assessment takes place at the end of the course and offers students a range of ways to demonstrate their learning, including written, oral, coursework and practical assessments. There are also options to suit learners of different abilities. The grades awarded at Cambridge IGCSE are A*–G, with A* being the highest.

At CF School all children will study the following IGCSEs:

Mandatory IGCSEs: English Language (1) English Literature (1) Maths (1) Co-ordinated Science: Chemistry, Biology and Physics (2) and Latin or Spanish (1) = 6 IGCSEs

Each student will then be able to opt for up to an additional 3 subjects choices:

Option Choices: Latin or Spanish, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Travel & Tourism, Business Studies, ICT, and Marine Science.

Each child is an individual and should be treated as such; if we feel it is in a child’s best interest to have a reduced curriculum load, we will recommend this.
